Internationally published author Rhiannon Rasmussen writes elegiac paeans to the vulnerability of a life lived without an exoskeleton; sometimes this is called 'body horror.' Primarily interested in the boundaries of humanity, monstrosity, and phantasm, Rhiannon’s dark fiction writing has appeared in magazines including Lightspeed Magazine, LampLight, Diabolical Plots, and Magic: the Gathering.

As an illustrator, Rhiannon draws heavily on printmaking roots and has done work for clients including IGMS, Shimmer, Vastarian: A Literary Journal, and concept art for video games. Comics written by Rhiannon have been published in award-winning series by Dark Horse, Iron Circus Comics, and Power & Magic Press. Rhiannon’s past experience includes print buying and management, prepress, editing, design, and visual development for companies such as Ascend Press, Hiveworks, and Seven Seas Entertainment. Work has also been published under the name Rhiannon RS (primarily illustration).

Selected short fiction can be read on Gumroad and itch.io.

I live and work on unceded Cayuse, Umatilla, Walla Walla, Kalapuya, Atfalati, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and Confederated Tribes of Siletz land. These indigenous communities, and many others in the Pacific Northwest and beyond, continue to fight for rights and recognition today and in Oregon have faced federal land seizures as recently as the 1950s. I also acknowledge Hawai'i, where I was raised, as the space of the Kānaka Maoli, yielded unlawfully and under duress by her majesty Queen Liliʻuokalani in 1897.
